The only thing this virus panic has shown me is that there is a large noisy and dumb portion of Americans who are stocking up on water and toilet paper, mainly because they are stupid, like the people in this blog post picture.
Do you know what the leading cause of death in people under 19 is? According to the CDC, it’s literally being stupid aka “incidental injury” such as playing in traffic, or falling off your trailer home.
Where was this hype for bird flu that infected a million or so Americans and killed ~18,000? Where is this world-is-ending hype for the flu that kills 20,000+ Americans every year (61,000 in 2018)? Oh right, there isn’t any because no one panics about the flu because it’s not being hyped. Where’s the daily flu virus tally? Or the daily ebola tally? Are we going to shut down the lives of millions Americans when this rolls around next year?
Just like the flu, unless you’re old or have a disease, your chance of dying from this made in china virus is literally 0.1% (and that’s with stats from people who died in china’s wonderful healthcare system). Unfortunately, many Americans are unhealthy. Look at the stats of the people who are dying from this chinese virus: almost all of the people have diabetes/heart disease/kidney disease. Does this make this better for people who have lost loved ones? No, but it does show this panic is unmerited for the mostly healthy young Americans who should be allowed to work and keep this country afloat. Killing America while trying to cure her of the chinese virus, is obviously, not a valid solution.
Once this virus falls apart, one must ask the question in the back of everyone’s mind: Did this virus originate indirectly/directly from the only lab in china which was studying coronaviruses like this one, which happens to be 4 miles from the epicenter of this pandemic?
