I hope that I’m not the only person who was confused by the huge clusterfuck that is the Middle East. So after some thought, I came to the conclusion that this region is a shit hole due to a thousand year struggle for power.
A UN report showed that Arabs are the poorest, most illiterate, and in my opinion, the most immoral people on earth. It’s an unfortunate reality, that poverty of the spirit and the body, are oftentimes, found together. As Churchill said,
“all know how to die but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world.”
Naturally, the middle east is full of able bodied, uneducated, and religiously hateful men, ripe for manipulation by foreign powers. Enter ISIS.
The main reason I made this post was to express my outrage at seeing ISIS using American made weapons in its massacres. Why does this terrorist scourge have American military weapons? (yes, those are American M4s in the hands of ISIS)
Naturally, this administration, read Fast and Furious, maintained great plausible deniability: ISIS captured the weapons from retreating Iraqis. Let us be real, this is horse shit. In my estimation, the Obama administration (read Benghazi), was smuggling in weapons directly to the Free Syrian rebels (read ISIS), to overthrow Assad (read Russian source of oil); In essence, a proxy war between the US and Russia/China fought under the guise of a civil war. Sure we have the Sunni vs. Shia element. But the bonds are not necessarily that strong. Mix in socialism of the Baathists, Alawite Shiites, vs. the more fascistic Sunni Muslim brotherhood, and you have a disturbing mash of WWII ideologies. Nevertheless, at the very basic level, this is simply a big clusterfuck of rival gangs vying for power.
After overthrowing these harsh dictators (Egpyt, Libya, Syria), what has happened? More evil has taken root. Why is this islamic state being allowed to form? More importantly, who controls ISIS?
Interestingly, Google search shows the leader is Bakr al Baghdadi. What is ISIS? Clearly, a mostly foreign conglomeration of Chechen, Pakistani, and regional terrorists, supported by the Saudis. What has ISIS destroyed? An Iranian-backed government in Iraq. Did ISIS destroy Iranian supported Assad? No. If ISIS and Assad truly were enemies, why have they not destroyed each other? Clearly, either ISIS or Assad will no longer be pawns of Iran or Saudi Arabia. Bakr al Baghdadi, seems to be playing Iran against Saudi Arabia, while securing oil-rich Syria and Iraq for himself. This does not bode well for the regional power, the Saudis.
(besides Baghdad, Iraq is mostly under ISIS control)
This is a dirty game. And in my opinion, this administration’s focus on destabilizing the middle east (Gaddafi/Libya, Assad/Syria, Egypt?), and engaging in proxy wars, does far more damage to America’s reputation than Bush’s actions in Afghanistan and Iraq: the former is a bloodletting with no respect for the future, while the latter gave the Iraqis a chance at self-rule with the long term goal of stabilizing the region. Ultimately, Obama’s policy of retreating out of Iraq will allow the rise of an unprecedented al-Qaeda/ISIS controlled islamic state.
